4 Capital Region Breweries Have Best Craft Beers in New York State
New York state is known for its many breweries and we have a good amount of them here in the Capital Region. The New York State Craft Beer Competition and the Governors Craft Beer Cup crowned the best craft beers in the state and the Capital Region was well represented and honored. Check out the winners.
What is the New York State Craft Beer Competition?
The organizers say that New York state has some of the top craft breweries in the world and the Capital Region was well represented. There were eighty-four medals in all that were awarded to fifty-six breweries. They were judged in twenty-nine categories by fifty-three judges according to the Times Union. There were 185 breweries represented in 29 categories. Here are the Capital Region winners and their beers:
Wayward Lane Brewing in Schoharie
Wayward Lane Brewing won over thirty-four other breweries in the experimental category. They won a gold medal for a smoked helles lager called Shadow Tricks.
Great Flats Brewing of Schenectady
Great Flats Brewing won a gold medal in the non-imperial stout category for its Revival Export Stout. They had 35 entries.
Wolf Hollow Brewing Co. in West Glenville
Wolf Hollow Brewing Co. won a gold medal in the strong ales category for their Tiny Tartan.
Shmaltz Brewing Co. in Troy
Shmaltz Brewing Co. in Troy
A silver medal went to Shmaltz Brewing Co.'s Exodus 2021 in the strong ales, non-Belgian category. There were thirty-two entries in this category.
