HVCC Announces Plans For Fall – With Good News For Students
Hudson Valley Community College announced that it's making all the necessary preparations for fall classes. In addition, HVCC also announced that they aren't raising tuition rates for the upcoming semester to help students and families affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
In a prepared statement, HVCC President Roger Ramsammy said, “The college has been a leader in distance learning for decades, and the adjustments we’ve made this spring and summer have only strengthened our ability to serve our students through online and remote learning options. Our faculty members have participated in extensive training, and our outstanding support services will remain available to help students in any way we can,"
Hudson Valley Community College decided to freeze tuition at the 2019-20 rate of $2,400 per semester (plus fees) for New York State residents.
About 1,600 courses will be offered by HVCC this fall and the majority are offered online. However, some courses like labs and hands-on learning will need to be done in person and in a classroom environment. When students are on campus they will be required to wear masks, social distance, and follow health guidelines.
With some colleges and universities not yet announcing plans for their fall semesters, I might be a great opportunity for students to take a few online classes at HVCC this fall before returning to the college or university that they were attending before the pandemic. My son is actually looking into that option right now and will probably take an online class or two at HVCC.
The fall semester will begin on Monday, Aug. 31, and end on Friday, Dec. 18.
