3 New York Beaches Ranked Among the Best in America
A trip to the beach is supposed to be fun and relaxing. But loud music, trash, and rude people can ruin the day. A new survey found that three beaches in New York are among the best in the country because visitors are respectful and the beaches are clean.
How the Beaches Were Ranked
Travel company Exoticca asked more than 3,000 people about beaches across the country. People rated beaches on things like cleanliness, noise, crowd size, and whether people were polite and respectful.
Coopers Beach Ranked No. 22
Coopers Beach in Southampton came in at number 22. People said the beach is clean, has plenty of space, and attracts visitors who are respectful of others.
Main Beach Ranked No. 23
Main Beach in East Hampton was right behind at number 23. The survey says smaller crowds and a quiet atmosphere help make it one of the best beaches for good manners.
Robert Moses State Park Made the Top 100
Robert Moses State Park on Fire Island ranked number 64. People said the beach is clean, well cared for, and has enough room for families and other visitors to spread out.
What Bothers Beach Visitors the Most?
The survey also asked people what ruins a beach trip. The top complaint was dirty water. Crowded beaches were next, followed by hotels that were too far from the beach. People also said they don't like theft, not having lifeguards nearby, drunk visitors, expensive parking, and high prices for food and drinks.

Many People Leave Early
Almost half of the people surveyed said they have left a beach earlier than planned because it felt too crowded, unsafe, or stressful. Nearly two out of three people also said a beach looked much better online than it did in real life.
