We've dealt with uncertainty in almost every walk of life; politics, international relations, business and entertainment are just a few of the areas that have produced bizarre headlines all year long.

When dealing with confusion, or not knowing the answer to a given question, most of us have the same thought: I should Google it.

Capital Region residents are not alone in their rampant use of the website. Approximately two trillion queries have been processed by the search engine in 2024, which boils down to roughly 8.5 billion searches per day.

Not all Googles are unique, however, as some topics are entered into the search bar more often than others. That information is tracked by Google Trends, a publicly-accessible database that measures which topics are being searched for most often.

As we did in 2021, 2022 and 2023, we dove into the analytics produced by Google Trends. The database allows users to view trend data by geographical area, so, we examined the data collected from the Albany-Schenectady-Troy metropolitan area.

In the process, we were able to uncover the top 25 search queries among Capital Region residents in 2024. Scroll below to check out our list!
