‘Funny How?': New York Giants’ QB Steals the Show With Joke at NFL Honors [WATCH]
Stop me if you've heard this before: Tommy DeVito has stolen the show.
DeVito was one of the players in attendance at the 2024 NFL Honors, held at Las Vegas' Resorts World. The event was hosted by comedian Keegan-Michael Key, and after a commercial break, the broadcast returned with a camera on Key and DeVito, who were seated next to each other in the audience.
What happened next was a very funny back-and-forth conversation, which featured DeVito doing an impression from the movie Goodfellas.
Wait, it was funny?
Funny how?
New York Giants' QB Tommy DeVito Steals the Show at NFL Honors with Impression
Take a look at this video, posted by NFL Network, of Key and DeVito's interaction during the NFL Honors last week:
For context, this is the scene in the movie Goodfellas that Key and DeVito were impersonating:
It's a well-executed bit, and one that acknowledges DeVito's beloved Italian heritage. From his love of chicken cutlets with vodka sauce, to his signature touchdown celebration, Tommy Cutlets became known equally for his acumen as a passer, and for his love of all aspects of Italian culture.
DeVito even became known as the Passing Paisano during the season, and filed for a trademark on both nicknames in December.
His rise to fame was one that he earned, as DeVito stepped in for injured QBs Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor during the 2023 NFL season, and made the most of the opportunity. He won three games in a row from November 19th through December 11th, including a memorable game against Green Bay, in which DeVito outdueled Jordan Love at MetLife Stadium.
After the win against Green Bay, New York had a record of 5-8, and was one win away from being back in the playoff conversation. DeVito and the Giants fell short against the New Orleans Saints the following week, but regardless of that result, a star had been born.
That star shined brightly once again at the NFL Honors last week, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
