Celebrity Chef Reveals His Top Restaurants in New York’s Hudson Valley

Celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern is known by many for seeking out the most bizarre foods in the world. That said, he's also a connoisseur of the best foods in the world, and certainly knows great food when he tastes it.

So, when he says that certain restaurants in New York's Hudson Valley are his favorite, we should all be paying attention.

As noted by New York Upstate, Zimmern was recently in-town for Catskill Cuisine, a culinary event held at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, which was the site of the original Woodstock Music Festival.

Zimmern, along with chef Anne Burrell and other notable culinary names, were invited to participate in the event, and spent their weekend cooking gourmet meals and interacting with guests.

In conjunction with his appearance at Catskill Cuisine, Zimmern gave an interview to Forbes Magazine, where he spoke at-length about his love of the food in the Hudson Valley area. You can read the full interview here.

Zimmern, who attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, took his love of Catskill cooking to another level: he started naming names. More specifically, he listed off seven of his favorite spots to eat in the Hunter Mountain/Catskills area, which we have included in a list below.

As one would expect from a top culinary expert like Andrew Zimmern, his food preferences vary tremendously. One restaurant he named serves up top-notch Filipino food, while another was characterized as a "farmstand" in NY Upstate's article, and served fresh-made pizzas.
