Cell Phone Lot at Albany International Airport Closing For Expansion
Picking up someone from the airport is something we've all had to do. Sometimes you get to the airport early and have to wait. That's where the cell phone lots that many airports have set up come in handy. Albany International Airport has a cell phone lot that has been pretty unchanged for as long as I can remember, but that's about to change.
Beginning on September 9th the lot will be closing temporarily closing to expand the current 32 parking spaces to 67. Recently I had to pick up people at the airport and the cell phone lot was almost completely full. I think this new expansion is much needed.
According to Albany International Airport:
Expanding the lot will provide additional room for drivers and help ensure it can better accommodate demand during busy arrival periods.

Temporary Cell Phone Lot Location
Albany International Airport provided a map of where there will be a temporary cell phone lot while the construction project will be happening. The temporary lot will be on the opposite side of the airport near the intersection of Albany Shake Rd and Heritage Ln.

The construction project is expected to be completed by November to accommodate the busy holiday travel Albany International Airport will expect. In 2025 ALB reported that they had a record year for travelers. 1.6 million people went through the Capital Region airport in 2025, and they expect even more travelers as 2026 heads to the busiest time of year.
