
Pizza Hut To Close 250 Locations, What Does This Mean for Capital Region Stores?
Pizza Hut appears to be preparing to close approximately 250 locations across the United States. These closures are expected to take place early this year but what about the New York locations?
According to Pizza Hut, there are approximately 157 pizza delivery, carry-out and sit down restaurants in New York State, including a dozen in the Capital Region. What's to become of these locations and why is Pizza Hut shutting down so many stores? Here's what we know.

Restaurant Business reports, Pizza Hut intends to close 250 restaurants across the nation in 2026. This is part of a strategy, implemented by parent company Yum! Brands, to improve marketing and technology. In short Yum wants to stop the struggle Pizza Hut has been experiencing.

250 store closings is a lot but keep in mind the Pizza Hut brand owns approximately 20,000 locations worldwide. Nonetheless, employees and guests are sure to be concerned if their neighborhood shop will be closing. Which of the New York stores will go away?
Yum! Brands not only owns Pizza Hut but they also have KFC and Taco Bell as part of the company as well. Officials have not share specific details on which stores would close, but described those locations as "underperforming." Here are some of the Capital Region Pizza Hut locations:
- Albany - Wolf Road
- Clifton Park - Route 9
- Glenville - Saratoga Road
- Latham - Troy Schenectady Road
- Queensbury - Main Street and Aviation Road
- Saratoga Springs - North Ballston
- Schenectady - Altamont Avenue
- Troy - 2nd Avenue
