New Yorkers Are Now Being Warned, Do Not Travel To This Destination

As of April 30, 2025, the United States Department of State - Bureau of Consumer Affairs has issued a WARNING to Americans planning to travel in the near future. This destination now has two advisories due to terrorism and natural disasters:

• Level 2 - Exercise increased caution
• Level 4 - DO NOT TRAVEL

New Yorkers planning to travel to Indonesia should either proceed with increased caution, or cancel the trip altogether, depending on your exact destination, as some areas have increased risk.

According to an Indonesia Travel Advisory, terrorists continue plotting possible attacks in Indonesia. Terrorists may attack with little or no warning, targeting police stations, places of worship, hotels, bars, nightclubs, markets, shopping malls, and restaurants.

DO NOT travel to:

• Central Papua - Violent demonstrations and conflict could result in injury or death to United States citizens.
• Papua Tengah
• Highland Papua - Avoid demonstrations and crowds. Armed separatists may kidnap foreign nationals.
• Papua Pegunungan

Exercise increased caution in Indonesia due to terrorism and natural disasters. Some areas have increased risk. Natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, or volcanic eruptions may result in disruptions to transportation, infrastructure, sanitation, and the availability of health services.

Here are some thing you can do should you decide to travel to Indonesia:

• Monitor local media for breaking events and be prepared to adjust your plans
• Review the CDC’s suggestions on how to prepare for natural disasters
• Be aware of your personal safety and security at all times
• Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date
