Why Are The Street Lights Blinking on Albany’s Washington Ave. Ext?
For weeks the street lights have been malfunctioning on Washington Avenue Extension, but what is the cause?
Remember when you were a kid and your parents would yell at you for putting the dome light on in the back of the car? They'd say things like it would blind them or it was illegal. Turns out it's not illegal, maybe a bit distracting but nothing that will land you in jail. Now what about if that was a strobe light?
That is literally what is going on in Albany at Washington Ave. Ext. I've noticed for weeks that they lights are flickering like crazy and it is so distracting while going down the road to have not only headlights coming at you but also this strobe effect going on. See the video below to see what I am talking about.
As you can see that is not normal. Some people commented on that video and said it's been happening for a year and prior to this it was happening on Central Ave. So what's the deal, Albany?
Apparently there are a number of issues that can lead to this.
- Loose wires
- Voltage problems
- Power surges
- Fluctuating power grid
Someone suggested that it could be because of the new construction by Crossgates and that new Apex apartment complex they put up. Maybe it's causing an issue with the power grid.
I don't know what the cause is but I can tell you that if it gets any worse the city is going to be in some serious trouble when someone blames an accident on the flashing lights.
