Animals Rescued from Hoarding Home in Cobleskill
A dedicated team of vets and State Police rescued over 50 animals living in "deplorable" conditions in Schoharie County earlier this week.
During the eight-hour mission in the pouring rain, they removed dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, chickens, roosters, and rabbits from a home in Cobleskill. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, all the animals are in safe hands, getting plenty of TLC, and are resting comfortably.
According to a Facebook post by the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, with the help of the New York State Police, 52 animals were rescued in all, including "dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, chickens, roosters, and a rabbit, from deplorable conditions for 8 hours, most of it in the pouring rain."
All 52 Animals Doing Much Better
The shelter was happy to report that all 52 animals are in clean kennels and getting the medical treatment they desperately needed.

"Our vet and staff will be back at 8 a.m. tomorrow to assess the damage endured by these poor animals. They will all receive medical treatment and vaccinations, and "the dogs and cats will be spayed or neutered," they wrote on their social media page.
Staff Asks for the Public's Help
As you can imagine, the shelter is a bit "overwhelmed" by the intake of these many animals and the cost of their medical treatment and care.
They have asked the community to help cover some of the costs. If you'd like to donate to the shelter, please click here.
What To Do If You Witness Animal Cruelty
If you witness animal cruelty or believe an animal is in danger, report the matter immediately to local law enforcement and your local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or other humane enforcement agencies.
Over a decade ago, the Albany County Animal Abuser Registry was created by an act of the Albany County Legislature known as Local Law K. The registry, hosted by the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, is a service to the public.
The following people seen on this list have been convicted of animal cruelty. While it's unclear exactly what they're guilty of, one thing is clear: They are not allowed to own, possess, reside in, have custody of, or intentionally engage in physical contact with any animal.
Period.
