94 Yr Old Troy Hardware Store Becoming Restaurant & Dispensary

Downtown Troy just saw a significant real estate deal go down. The Trojan Hardware building, sitting prominently at the corner of 96 Congress St., along with its neighboring properties, has changed hands.

The entire property is 39,133 square feet. It goes from Congress Street to Church Street Alley. It's situated right across from the Vicina Modern Urban Flats apartment building on Fourth Street.

No Name Holdings initially had plans to rent space for a cannabis dispensary within these premises, but this evolved into a decision to acquire the entire property. They secured a dispensary license earlier this year under the state's Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary (CAURD) program, which places emphasis on benefiting communities affected by the war on drugs, as well as individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Despite legal challenges that have temporarily paused the program, No Name Holdings is committed to opening a dispensary on the Fourth Street side of the complex. They intend to lease out the former restaurant space, previously known as The Shop, to local restaurateurs, who want to put in a deli, small grocery store, coffee shop, and cocktail bar with a tasting menu.

Rare Form Brewing Co. remains a tenant within the complex, and there are seven ready-to-occupy residential units on the upper floors.

Back in 2009, Trojan Hardware Company closed after ninety-four years in Troy.
