New York Waives Application Fees For College Admissions
College applications are a rigorous and stressful process. You're tasked with explaining your whole life to dozens of colleges and universities who are seeing the same thing from hundreds or even thousands of other applicants.
To add on to that, these applications aren't free, and can add even more stress to struggling families. New York is changing that narrative.
Collage Application Initiative
For the past 13 years, New York has run the College Application Initiative, a program designed to help high school seniors navigate the challenges of college applications. This is the fourth year in which the initiative helps state colleges waive application fees, greatly cutting down on the cost of applying for higher education.
Application fees can range anywhere from $50 to $90 per application, which can rack up when you're applying to 5, 10, or even 20 schools. During last year's initiative, over 300,000 Applications Were Submitted, which helped New Yorkers save over $15 Million in application fees.

When is the Initiative Active?
Over 130 schools are taking part in waiving admission fees, from SUNY to CUNY and other affiliated colleges and universities across the state.
All CUNY schools will have their fees waived from September 15th to November 16th, while all SUNY schools will have their fees waived from October 19th through November 2nd. Independent colleges and universities vary by school, but the dates for free applications can be viewed HERE.
This initiative is only for students in New York State looking to pursue an undergraduate degree in-state.
This initiative is vital to New Yorkers looking to further their education who might be priced out of applying to schools.
