New Restaurant Coming To Busy Wolf Road in Colonie This Fall
Another restaurant will be coming to the already busy Wolf Road in Colonie and this time an authentic Mexican restaurant will replace a barbeque joint that has since closed.
The spot that used to house Warehouse Grill & BBQ is being transformed into a vibrant Mexican restaurant.
Jose Castaneda, the new owner, has plans to open Don Tequila Mexican Cantina at 219 Wolf Road this fall. He signed the lease and is already deep into renovations. According to Albany Business Review, he’s working on getting a liquor license and hopes to open the doors in October.
This will be Castaneda’s first restaurant in the Albany area but his fifteenth in New York State. Castaneda, based near Buffalo, has successfully opened several Western and Central New York restaurants.
The Wolf Road location will feature a similar concept to his other cantinas, with a menu full of traditional Mexican dishes and a modern twist. When asked what we can expect, he said:
We are more modern. We push the liquor a lot more. We are more, I would say, fancy.
Everyone in the Capital Region knows that Wolf Road is the place to be when it comes to restaurant locations. It's estimated that twenty-six thousand vehicles pass through daily.
Castaneda’s other restaurants include Don Tequila Mexican Bar, Aguacates Mexican Bar & Grill, Margarita’s Mexican Cantina, and Los Compadres Mexican Taqueria, with locations in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, and Watertown.
