Former College Of St. Rose Buildings Turned Over To UAlbany
It's been a little over two years since the College of St. Rose closed its doors for good. Unfortunately, you can't exactly just erase an entire college from the map.

The infrastructure is still there, and it needs something to do, which is why UAlbany has stepped in to make things easier for the former college, as well as their own students.

Why Did St. Rose Close?
St. Rose seemed to have a good thing going at the turn of the century, but by the time we hit the mid-2010s, it all came tumbling down. Enrollment began declining, and as such, mass layoffs began.
By 2023, the College was operating on an $11.3 Million deficit. Eventually, they were unable to stay open and were forced to close their doors on November 30th, 2023. During their closure, UAlbany took care of most of their leftovers: transcripts, accreditations, and more. The idea of the College may have transferred, but the physical buildings remain. Don't worry, UAlbany is taking care of those too.
New Student Housing
On March 30th, 2026, a little under two and a half years after St. Rose closed its doors, Centennial Hall was officially signed over to UAlbany. The building, formerly a residence hall at St. Rose, will now be used for Student Housing at UAlbany.
The building was purchased for $12 Million, and accommodate upper level students at the University. The residence is already full for the Fall 2026 semester, and has begun a waiting list for students interested in living at the new location.
