Dream Gig Alert: Be a Bat Boy or Girl for the Tri-City ValleyCats
Know a Kid With a Love for Baseball?
If your kid dreams of being part of the action at a baseball game, this might be the coolest opportunity of the summer.
One of the Capital Region’s most beloved teams, the Tri-City ValleyCats, is officially looking for Bat Boys and Bat Girls of the Game for the upcoming season, and local kids are invited to sign up now.
The Ultimate Summer Job?
I didn’t even start working until I was about 14 or 15, and I swear I managed to land two of the worst summer jobs imaginable. One year, I spent four hours a day in an Albany park sickling weeds in the heat. Just me, a dull blade, and endless overgrowth.
The next summer somehow got worse… I was out at Buckingham Lake raking pond scum off the surface like it was my full-time calling. Not exactly glamorous, and definitely not something you brag about.
So yeah, comparatively speaking, being a bat boy for the ValleyCats? That sounds like an absolute dream job.

Kids 10 and Up Can Apply; The Perks are Awesome
The team is opening the dugout to kids ages 10 and up to experience what it’s like inside during a real game.
According to the VallyCats, selected participants will get a behind-the-scenes role with the team, a free t-shirt, and tickets for family and friends to watch them in action from the stands. It’s the kind of experience most baseball fans only dream about.
There’s also a bonus: kids will have the opportunity to open a youth savings account through CRFCU, tying in a little financial know-how with all the fun.
Season Starts Next Month
The ValleyCats kick off their season at home on May 15 against the defending Frontier League champs from Quebec, with 51 home dates scheduled through August 30.
If you’ve got a baseball-loving kid at home, this is a memory waiting to happen. For more information and to register, click here.
