Naked in New York, Where It’s Allowed & Places to Go [LIST]
I've heard of the ideas of nudist beaches and nudist areas but I guess I never really thought they could be real, or maybe I just never thought of them as an option. Surprise, not only are there a ton but some are really close by to the Capital Region!
In a post by NewYorkUpstate.com, apparently, there are some nudist areas that you may not know about.
Places to swim outside a little further away, in Moravia, NY is Empire Haven, a family-friendly nudist park near the Finger Lakes. There's another called
Steph's Pond out near Rochester, a private club called Bare Lake Nudist Club in Corning, Brushwood Folklore Center in Sherman and Alice Falls in Keeseville.
You don't have to do swimming to express your nude body. There are nudist and naturalist clubs like Naturist Rochester, a club called Niagara Naturists, Young Naturists America based in Long Island City, or Buffalo in the Buff.
If nudism is your thing, though, be careful! A lot of people decide to strip down not realizing that nudism is actually prohibited, though commonly accepted. Places like Potters Falls in Syracuse, Lakeview WMA in Henderson (on Lake Ontario) and more locally Spier Falls at Moreau State Park in Gansevoort.
I love the idea of nudism. I think a lot of us would benefit from being open about expressing our bodies. If everyone is naked, then what is there to be ashamed of? Maybe we'll focus less on what we look like to other people and more on what people have to offer on the inside.
