How crazy is it that we are searching for gas prices under $5 a gallon right now?

My heart sunk into my stomach, or my wallet I should say when I paid $5.05 a gallon for gas today on Central Avenue in Colonie. Which got me to thinking - it really has been 2 extremes with gas prices over the last few years, am I right?

When we were all staying at home during the pandemic, it was dirt cheap. Now that we are hitting the road in full force this summer, combined with record inflation and prices for pretty much everything, we are seeing the highest gas prices ever in Upstate New York.

Yes, the state even temporarily lifted the gas tax which gave almost no relief. We saw some cheaper prices here and there, and well...those savings are long gone.

So outside of riding a bike or a horse everywhere this summer, we just have to grin and bear it in the months ahead. And even though it is only a little bit of savings in the grand scheme of things, there still are a good amount of stations with gas prices well under $5 a gallon.
