See The Capital Region City Named One Of America’s 25 Best To Live
One Capital Region city continues to receive recognition as one of the best to live in the United States.
Let's be honest. We all get a little too caught up from time to time in the negative aspects of where we live. It's human nature. I am sure just like any city, there are aspects to Capital Region life we are not crazy about (Taxes anyone?). But, sometimes a little outside perspective helps us to refocus on the positives, the things we love about living here in the Capital Region.
City Life With An Easy Access To Nature
We get the best of both worlds in the Capital Region. We have great cities that are home to amazing restaurants and music venues. And right in our backyard its easy access to nature's wonders like Lake George, the Adirondacks, Catskills, and so much more.
Plenty Of Recreation!
From Saratoga Race Course to SPAC to all the great museums and parks, there is a lot to see and do here in the Capital Region.
Steeped In History
So many important events that led to our birth as a nation happened right here in the area, like the Battle at Saratoga which was a turning point in the Revolutionary War. There are so many points of interest in the area that are windows into our nation's rich history.
With all of these positives, and believe it or not, a cost of living that compares favorably to many other metro areas around the country, it is no surprise that Albany landed at # 21 on US News and World Report's Best 25 Places To Live In the US In 2022-2023.
So maybe you are wondering how were these rankings formulated? US News and World Report says they are based on several factors like great schools, low crime rates, "...combination of jobs, desirability, cost of living, quality of life, and more."
Here is what US News had to say about New York's state capital:
New York City may be the most populous metro area in the U.S., but New York’s capital offers more affordability, lower crime rates and a shorter average commute. The typical morning commute for Albany-area residents is just 23.3 minutes. Plus, the air quality in Albany ranks above 126 other metro areas on the Best Places to Live list, based on the U.S. Air Quality Index, reported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Sometimes all it takes is a little outside perspective to appreciate the finer points of the local cities we call home!
