We have had a weird stretch of winter in Upstate New York, and that odd weather pattern would continue into Spring in Upstate New York.

Think about how odd this winter has been in Upstate New York. We had a mild and wet December, a very cold January with below-average precipitation, and a little bit of a mixed bag in February. It looks like the slightly odd weather patterns will continue for Upstate New York into spring.

According to the Weather Channel, the La Nina weather pattern we had the winter will continue to wreak havoc on Northeast weather in the Spring. For the Capital Region and south, we can expect pretty much slightly above average temperatures in March, while the North Country could see colder than average temps.

Things could then shift in the other direction for April, which could trend in chillier than average temperatures for the whole state. May would then finally bring a warm-up for the whole state, with near or slightly above average temperatures for the last full month of spring.

Either way, it looks like the jury is still out on whether March will bring a strong finish to winter 2022 here in the Capital Region. Our snowfall is way below average this year, and one would expect with the chance of slightly warmer temperatures for us to miss out on any big snow the rest of the season. But, this winter has taught us anything so far, it is to expect the unexpected. Gotta love Upstate New York weather!
