Gorgeous Upstate New York Apple Orchard Voted Nation’s Best
As we get close to apple picking season one of New York's own orchards is getting some recognition as the best in the country.
During late September and the first few weeks of autumn, it's all about apples in Upstate New York. From apple picking to apple cider donuts to hard apple cider - we literally enjoy all the fruits of the apple harvest season. Nationwide, Upstate New York is known as one of the prime apple-growing and harvesting regions in the United States. For many of us, we make it a yearly tradition to go apple picking and we have some awesome orchards throughout Upstate. But one Empire State Orchard is getting recognition as one of the best 3 in the whole country.
Upstate New York Orchard Voted One of 3 Best In America
Now it is one thing to be named the best at something, but being VOTED the best of the best is a whole other level. And that is exactly what happened for a Syracuse area orchard when USA Today left it up to a nationwide vote to determine the 10 best apple-picking destinations in the country.
Big congrats to the beautiful Beak and Skiff Apple Orchards in Lafayette for being voted the #3 orchard nationwide! Here is what the USA Today best of story had to say about this stunning destination:
This family-owned orchard has been growing apples since onion farmer George Skiff and dairy farmer Andrew Beak joined forces in 1911 to plant apples on a hillside along Route 20. The rest, as they say, is history. Gala, McIntosh, Ginger Gold and Paula Red are just a few of the varieties offered from late August through late October. Live music events, Cider Fests, Orchard Runs and a Kids' Magic Show add entertainment to the apple picking.
Known not only for their apples, Beak and Skiff is also responsible for the amazing 1911 Hard Ciders! So maybe on that next apple-picking trip, you take a little extended day trip!
