The Miami Dolphins have a new Head Coach, and his success started in the Capital Region

A hoarding situation at a home in Dutchess County leads to the rescue of twenty-two Great Dane dogs in grave condition. Now the UAlbany Great Danes are stepping in and asking for your support for these animals.

The NCAA tournament doesn't have to be in town for a big-time college basketball atmosphere to pop-up in Albany. Eighteen times since 2001, the Siena Saints and the UAlbany Great Danes have matched up in men's basketball, resulting in some of the area's largest crowds of the season. So, why not find the best times and dates to encourage that excitement?

UAlbany football coach Greg Gattuso is looking to put his Great Danes in a position to compete for another trip to the NCAA Playoffs. Adding championship caliber coaches speeds that process. Adding a local Super Bowl champion that played with Tom Brady, adds a little hardware to the message

Being a student-athlete is not easy at any level. Competing in a sport with the best of your peers can be extremely challenging, physically and mentally. High school student-athletes are going through intense bodily chemical changes as they grow and compete at the same time. Collegiate student-athletes are usually on the back end of the growth spurt but most are living on their own for the first time and are faced with brand new expectations, challenges and temptations.

On Tuesday, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced that current President Mark Emmert would step down by June 30, 2023. Running an organization that governs the athletic operations of hundreds of a colleges across the country, with different financial models, is an impossible task for the most part. However, having worked at one of those institutions' athletic department for a few decades, Emmert doesn't get a pass for his performance or lack there of.

The University at Albany has nice tradition over the past decade. For six of those years in the month of March, the Great Danes women's basketball team has won the America East Conference and gone to the NCAA tournament. In that time span, a few of the head coaches benefitted from the Danes good fortune. UAlbany's head coach Colleen Mullen isn't worried about things like that. She has her team poised to cut down the nets on Maine's home floor.

Scott Marr has built an amazing Division I lacrosse program at the University at Albany. Multiple men's lacrosse NCAA tournament games have been played on campus to an unprecedented response from fans. The Great Danes lacrosse faithful didn't go unnoticed. The Premier Lacrosse League has brought professional lacrosse to Tom & Mary Casey twice. Each time being a huge success. This tour might even be a little better!

This was a difficult decision. I understand that if Stony Brook wins the America East men's basketball tournament, number one seeded Vermont will not receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. The country will be listening to CBS commentators sayings something like "...and Stony Brook will be leaving the America East for the CAA in the fall..." That is hard to choke down for any member institution.

Stillwater native and UAlbany Baseball head coach Jon Mueller announced the Great Danes' 2022 season schedule. The 48-game slate features 18 games at Varsity Field and 30 games on the road. In typical Coach Mueller fashion, UAlbany will open with one of the toughest baseball programs in the country, the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia plays in collegiate baseball's #1 conference the SEC.
