Was it Really That Simple? Yankees Turnaround Attributed to This Move
The Yankees have been a different team since the trading deadline. Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo have been nice additions, but they haven’t been the difference makers. When GM Brian Cashman made those moves he sent a message thru the clubhouse that he still believed in his team, and he wasn’t giving up on the season. Now the Yankees have won 7 straight and is the hottest team in baseball. Not only are the Yankees going to make the playoffs as a wild card, they could still win the American League East. That’s not what we were saying on July 5th when they trailed the first place Red Sox by 10 ½ games. Erik Boland joined us to talk about their recent success and said it simply could be that adding two left handed bats are the reason for this turnaround. Listen above for that answer and much more from the Yankees beat writer!
I am very reluctant to sing the praises of Jets’ Rookie Quarterback Zach Wilson until we see him in a regular season game against a starting defensive unit, but he’s making good progress after two preseason games. I was impressed with his arm strength, poise and decision making against Green Bay on Saturday. He’s developing a very good chemistry with WR Corey Davis, and Wilson plays with a little swagger to him. It’s very early, but if your a Jets fan you have to be encouraged with what you have seen so far.
