Saugerties’ Ian Flanigan Finishes 3rd on ‘The Voice’
Ian Flanigan first won over Blake Shelton back in the middle of October when his blind audition performance of Zac Brown Bands "Colder Weather" caused the superstar to tell the 30-year-old that he had "a once in a lifetime voice." Over the next few weeks, viewers of The Voice fell for Flanigan too, who week after week sang with heart, soul and conviction as he built a base that regardless of where he would finish during the finale, should prove to be a strong foundation of "Flani Fans" for years to come.
Monday evening, the Saugerties native joined the rest of the Season 19 finalists; Desz (Team Kelly Clarkson), John Holiday (Team John Legend ), Jim Ranger (Team Blake Shelton) and Carter Rubin (Team Gwen Stefani). Each artists performed two songs, and then America voted.
On Tuesday night, the two hour live season finale was filled with well, filler. Skits, sketches, and multiple performances from country artists Tyler Hubbard, Dan + Shay, Keith Urban and Pink and Blake Shelton kept fans on the edge of their seat until the winner was announced.
With about 15 minutes left to go in the show, the 5 finalists were lined up and eliminated from 5 down to 1.
Finishing in 5th Place: John Holiday
Finishing in 4th Place: Desz
Finishing in 3rd Place: Ian Flanigan
Finishing in 2nd Place: Jim Ranger
15-year-old Carter Rubin was named the winner of Season 19 of The Voice.
Cheers to a great run by Ian Flanigan and enough television exposure and momentum to carry him as far as he wants to go.
