Have you ever been at your kids' sporting events, on a boat, or outside when the weather turns cooler and it begins to rain or you start to get wet? You try and warm up with a blanket but it gets soaked in the elements. There is an entrepreneur out of Latham who just might hook a shark with her invention that solves this dilemma.

Who is Going on Shark Tank & What's The Invention?

Her name is Tracy Slocum and she will be appearing on ABC's Shark Tank to pitch her innovative product called Pretty Rugged. These are what they call, the "world's first blanket with luxe faux fur on one side and waterproof, windproof, washable RuggedTex fabric on the other" according to the Albany Business Review.

Her inspiration to make Pretty Rugged came about when she went on boat rides with her husband and needed a blanket after she got wet and became cold. She said she couldn't find anything so she made one herself. She brought it everywhere and all of her friends wanted one. She figured she would market it. She now sells them online.

What Products Does Pretty Rugged Make?

They have different kinds of blankets for your lap, baby, and even pets. In fact, Pretty Rugged's pet blanket was featured on Oprah's favorite things.

They also have cardigans, vests, bags, ponchos, totes, and scarves.

When Will Pretty Rugged Be On Shark Tank?

Although Tracy Slocum can't reveal too much about her episode that will air on News 10 ABC on Friday, October 21st at 8 pm, she did say that not all folks that get in front of the sharks get aired. She feels fortunate to be in front of Mark Cuban, Robert Herjavec, Kevin O’Leary, Lori Greiner, and guest shark, Emma Grede.

She taped the episode back in July. Regardless if Pretty Rugged hooks a shark, the show will expose her product to millions of people.

Tracy said of the Shark Tank opportunity:

I've seen so many companies regardless of outcome become household names, so it's exciting to just have been able to be chosen and also to be aired. Not everyone is aired. That's also a big thing.
